Joe Budden Fires Back at Drake on 'Afraid'

Joe Budden bites back.

Just hours after Drake sent some shots his way on French Montana's “No Shopping,” the Slaughterhouse MC retaliates with “Afraid.” Sampling Drizzy's Thank Me Later cut “The Resistance,” Budden delivers a slew of punchlines and schemes.

At one point, Jumpoff refers to the 6 God's Apple deal restricting his career. “It's bigger than rap battles,” he rhymes. “A word for the digital cash castle / Don't let a glitch in the Mac crash you / Unrelaxed, wearing political straps, shackled / Now clash paths with dad, the original bad apple.”

Later on the track, he calls out Drake for not responding to Pusha T's various disses. “Maybe y'all should be shook of me,” he raps. “Should know I'd kill him at even the slightest push of me / And when his team press up shirts, I'll help 'em push a tee / Should it read: he pressed buttons but wouldn't push a tee / Gotta be buggin', maybe he dunno where Pusha be.”

On “No Shopping,” Drizzy references Budden's “Pump It Up” and takes aim at his friend-turned-foe with a few lines. “I'm not a one-hit wonder,” he raps. “They know all my stuff / You let me turn into the ni**a that you almost was.”

Budden has said he was tipped off about the song prior to its release. Before it even came out, he unleashed two diss tracks aimed at the 6 God with “Making a Murderer Pt. 1” and “Wake.”

The beef appeared to launch after Joe criticized Drake's Views, claiming among other things that Drizzy sounded “uninspired” on the chart-topping album.
