Watching This New Planking Record Will Make Your Abs Cry For Mercy

Abs of steel doesn't begin to cover this.

A Chinese policeman shattered the world planking record in Beijing recently, Reuters reported.

Mao Weidong remained in the plank position for 8 hours, 1 minute and 1 second, the BBC noted. He even cranked out a few pushups afterward to put an exclamation point on the feat.

George Hood, a retired U.S. Marine and a former planking record holder, managed to plank for 7 hours 4 minutes and 5 seconds in the contest. Mao Weidong had also held the mark previously.

Hood said of his opponent in the NowThis video above, "Tremendous respect for the man."

We second that. And now we're going to the gym.
