Donald Glover Joins 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Cast

Donald Glover is joining the Spidey gang.

The actor-rapper, also known as Childish Gambino, is headed to the big screen in Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Sony reboot of the superhero franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production for the film starts later this month and Tom Holland is set to play the Peter Parker/Spider-Man role. It's unclear what Glover's role will be, but he will star alongside Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya.

Directed by Jon Watts, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is expected to arrive in theaters in 2017.

Glover has close ties with the franchise. He voiced Miles Morales in “Ultimate Spider-Man,” Disney XD's animated show. There was also a fan-led movement for him to star in “The Amazing Spider-Man” back in 2012.

As an actor, Glover has proven his chops in shows like “Community” and “30 Rock” and films like Magic Mike XXL and The Martian. He's also set to star in FX's “Atlanta,” a program he created and produced, which airs this fall.
