New Music: Lil Yachty – 'Judgement Free'

Lil Yachty is in a “Judgement Free” zone.

On Monday (Nov. 28), Lil Boat premiered his Auto-Tune-filled single on Beats 1. “This is just who I am,” he sings. “This is just how I was created / Don't you judge who I am / 'Cause I still think that I'm the greatest.”

Yachty also addresses racial prejudice on the uptempo track. “Don't judge me by the color of my skin today,” sings the “Minnesota” rapper. “Don't crucify none of my friends today.”

Going along with the song's theme, Yachty also retracted some of his own past judgements about The Notorious B.I.G.

“Until about two weeks ago, I had never listened to a Biggie song,” said Yachty. “I've listened to all his songs now. Update! I'm not going to sit here and lie and say I just bump him, but I know for a fact he was spittin'… He snapped. I can't lie.”

“The only thing I kind of hate is that I spoke so quick on him before I even gave it a chance to listen to him,” he added. “Before I said that, I just was in the blind. I feel like I owe an apology. I didn't think before I spoke on that topic. I know now how important and just how serious it is to certain people. I don't want people thinking that I was disrespecting him because it wasn't a disrespect thing. That's just my personal opinion. My dad did not play Biggie or Tupac so I had never heard it. And I just now, to this day, feel like I was wrong for speaking about something like that without even taking a second to listen.”
