Amy Schumer Gets Personal And Political With Gun Control Sketch

Amy Schumer never misses an opportunity to use her comedy -- or her platform -- for good.

Schumer tackles the gun market's lack of rules and regulations on the latest episode of "Inside Amy Schumer." In a new sketch, called "Welcome To The Gun Show," the comedian explains via an "HSN"-like show just how horrifyingly easy it is for anyone to obtain a gun.

"Now here is what's great about this," says Schumer, picking up the deadly weapon and playing with it for the camera. "Pretty much anyone can purchase this."

"You can absolutely get a gun if you have several felonies, as long as you buy it on the Internet or at a gun show," Schumer says, before her co-host takes over explaining the loopholes. "If you go to a gun show you can get an unlicensed seller to sell you a gun no [questions] asked."

Gun control is an extremely personal issue for Schumer. In July 2015, a shooter opened fire at a showing of Schumer's movie, "Trainwreck," killing two people and injuring others before turning the gun on himself.

“I was by myself in a hotel, and I was just like, I wish I never wrote that movie,” the comedian said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “It's like when the 'Dark Knight' shooting happened, and in Paris. The idea of people trying to go out and have a good time - you know, like looking forward to it? - I don't know why that makes me the saddest.”

After the shooting, Schumer teamed up with her cousin Senator Chuck Schumer to call for a new, better approach to gun control

"We're here today to say 'enough is enough' to mass shootings in our schools, our college campuses, our military bases and even our movie theaters," Amy said, visibly upset. “These shootings have got to stop. I don't know how else to say it."

Tune in to "Inside Amy Schumer" Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on Comedy Central.
