Things we'll do if Melissa McCarthy doesn't show up in Netflix's "Gilmore Girls" revival: steal a yacht; destroy Jackson's produce crop; kiss Jess even though we're dating Dean; lock Sookie in a room with Paris, Kirk and Rune and commit other generally bad acts of "Gilmore" treachery.
After almost everybody in Stars Hollow signed on to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated revival, it became clear that one name -- perhaps the biggest name -- was missing.
Digging what is most likely the finest knife a chef could own even deeper, Yanic Truesdale, aka Michel, shared a photo of himself and former co-star McCarthy grabbing a meal on Sunday.
"Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can't ask for more! Dont read anything into it guys," he captioned the photo.
Fans immediately ignored Truesdale's caption, with many of them adding commentary like, "Obviously I'm going to read into this!!!!!! #sookiesback" and "BUT I WANT TO READ INTO IT ."
It's unclear why McCarthy did not officially sign on to the project, considering "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine that although "she’s really f**king busy ... if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene."
Confusingly, McCarthy later shared on Twitter that "no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow." Um, but like, Sherman-Palladino just did ...
We're feeling a lot of this:
Almost enough to make us do this:
But in the end, all we want is this:
The end.
