Had Leonardo DiCaprio Taken This Role, The 'Star Wars' Prequels Would've Been Very Different

In a galaxy far, far away, Leonardo DiCaprio just received an Oscar for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in the "Star Wars" prequels.

At least, that's what could've happened in this galaxy had DiCaprio simply taken the role instead of Hayden Christensen.

As pointed out by Cinema Blend, George Lucas and Leonardo DiCaprio discussed the possibility of the "Titanic" actor taking on the role of a teenage Anakin Skywalker. According to a Guardian article from January 2000, rumors of the casting amplified after DiCaprio visited Lucas' Skywalker ranch.

But, as we all know, DiCaprio ended up turning down the role.

"I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that [the role of Skywalker]," the actor said in an interview with The Short List. "Again, just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point."

Of course, DiCaprio's career has done just fine since turning down "Star Wars." While we're feeling nostalgic for young Anakin Leo, enjoy this video of a 16-year-old DiCaprio that will melt your heart:
