Out of nowhere, Kendrick Lamar blesses your Friday with a brand new video for his interlude “For Free?” off his chart-topping album To Pimp a Butterfly. The song is a jazzy number with spitfire verses from the Compton kingpin, which he illustrates with frantic energy in the clip.
It starts with a woman voicing the introductory spoken word section, a laundry list of complaints about a cheap boyfriend. Then Kendrick appears, face pressed to a window, and proceeds to chase her around the house while rapping and yelling, “This dick ain’t free!” The whole video has the manic energy of Charlie Chaplin, as Kendrick appears from behind a window with a live band and pops his head into the bathroom.
