Revisit Jhené Aiko's Stunning Cover of Tupac's 'Keep Ya Head Up'

Tupac Shakur once asked, “How long will they mourn me?” Today (Sept. 13) marks 20 years since the influential rapper's death and he's still one of music's most revered figures.

Jhené Aiko has certainly been one to sing 'Pac's praises over the years. In 2013, for instance, Aiko covered Shakur's “Keep Ya Head Up” classic for Rap-Up Sessions.

Aiko didn't just deliver a stunning, acoustic version of the uplifting anthem. She also praised one of her idols for his impact.

“I think he's a global icon for speaking your mind, being controversial, and just having something to say in your music,” she told Rap-Up at the time. “He had it all-the look, the music, and he really stood for something. Even if you just wanna make the world happy or make 'em dance, it should be for a reason and not just for personal gain, and I think he really took responsibility for that. He knew the power in music.”

To commemorate Tupac's life and influence, revisit Aiko's 2013 rendition of “Keep Ya Head Up” below.
