The No Fun League Made Its Dumbest Celebration Call Yet On Vernon Davis

The NFL really needs to loosen up.

After taking a stand against Antonio Brown's twerking and pelvic thrusts to celebrate touchdowns, the so-called No Fun League targeted a more innocent and creative TD gesture on Sunday.

Vernon Davis of Washington caught a touchdown pass against the Philadelphia Eagles and gently tossed the ball through the goal posts as if he were shooting a basketball.

But Davis was penalized for excessive celebration ― NFL rules say players can't use the ball and goal posts as props.

The flag made his team surrender 15 yards on the kickoff. The Eagles' Wendell Smallwood then took the shorter kick back 86 yards for a touchdown.

Consequences ― and all for a move that's fun for fans and really isn't all that in-your-face for opposing players.

Davis, whose teammate Josh Norman had been fined earlier this month for pretending to shoot an arrow after an interception, can rest easy, though. Washington still managed to win, 27–20.
