Kanye West to Play ‘808s & Heartbreak’ Concert at Hollywood Bowl

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Late Registration, but Kanye West is celebrating another album. The rapper will revisit his fourth album 808s & Heartbreak with a special show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles next month.

West is set to perform his groundbreaking 2008 LP, reports Rolling Stone (via CoS). While he hasn’t officially announced the concert, a listing appeared on Ticketmaster. A ticket pre-sale will begin Aug. 31, followed by the general on-sale on Sept. 4.

808s & Heartbreak was partially recorded in Hawaii following the death of West’s mother Donda and his broken engagement to then-girlfriend Alexis Phifer. It relied heavily on Auto-Tune and spawned hits including “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless.”

According to RS, “Welcome to Heartbreak” and “RoboCop” haven’t been performed since 2009, while “Street Lights,” “Paranoid,” and “Amazing” were each played less than 10 times live before being removed from West’s set list. He has never performed “Bad News” live.

The G.O.O.D. Music chief will be honored with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award at tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.
